Parabola Works: Autumn/Winter Collection

Overview

Challenge

Parabola Works, the innovative London-based brand born from the creative mind of A-COLD-WALL* alumnus Elliot Long, sought to make a striking entrance with its autumn/winter collection. Known for designs that challenge the norm and provoke deep emotional responses, Parabola Works required a sound design for its "Matchstick" and "Prufrock" adverts that would mirror the unique essence of their clothing line. The task was to encapsulate a sense of eeriness, creating an audio environment that felt slightly distant and dissonant. Our challenge was not just to accompany the visual narrative but to enhance it, employing intelligent audio manipulations to weave tension and unease into the fabric of the campaign, crafting a dark and immersive world through sound.

Our Approach

Embracing Parabola Works' ethos of evoking emotional responses, we delved into creating a soundscape that would envelop the audience in the intended atmosphere from the outset. This meant pushing the boundaries of traditional sound design, using a combination of foley and audio manipulation techniques to achieve a haunting ambience. The goal was to make the audio not just a backdrop but a central character in the narrative, one that would draw the listener into Parabola Works' world, where fashion transcends the material to become an experience.

Outcome

The resulting sound design for the "Matchstick" and "Prufrock" adverts was a testament to the power of sound in storytelling. The eerie, dissonant soundscape we created not only complemented Parabola Works' visual narrative but deepened the emotional impact of their autumn/winter collection. The adverts succeeded in immersing viewers in a meticulously crafted world, where the boundary between fashion and emotion blurs, inviting audiences to experience the collection's provocation not just visually, but viscerally.
